so i've come to the realization that i have this weird obsession with nicki minaj lol .. i don't know what it is about her but i'm definitely a big fan . from the weird costumes , over the top makeup , different hair & rockin' shoes , nicki minaj is definitely one to compete with . starting off with multiple pairs of leggings & then becoming one of the industry's baddest ladies in dresses & such , nicki is the topic of many conversations & is warring with hip hop diva lil kim . ahh , lil kim you had your shot so let nicki do her thing .. she's been killin' 'em & i don't think baby girl is gonna let up anytime soon .

statement piece for summer =

fedoras ! they are DEFINITELY in for the summer . so grab one if you can ! a fedora is a great accessory whether you're going shopping during the day , out for brunch , or even a great piece for night . most fedoras come with a ban around the middle & the ban is great for adding accessories . flower pins , bows , feathers or anything that would give the fedora personality and make it " you " would be a great addition !

before summer rolled in , i was looking for a great pair of shades to wear for the season . i didn't want ray bans ( not that i have anything aganist them ) , but i needed something that was going to better fit the look i was looking for . after much research & testing , i came across Carrera shades . Do Right And Kill Everything

& that's exactly what canadian rap star Drake is doing . drake who is signed to weezy's young money and has been featured on various songs with trey songz and the dream to name a few is killing the rap game . he has been featured on various mixtapes and various songs and will release his highly anticipated studio album " thank me later " . about a week or so ago , drake released a video to his song " over " and i must say that i am pretty impressed with the video . i haven't been that happy with recent drake videos because it seemed that he was camera shy and the video concepts were interesting . not to say that the " over " video had a much more interesting concept , but it was something about the video that captured me more so than the other videos . for those who haven't seen the video , here's a link to check it out :

* deep sigh * last time i blogged , i told you all that i'd be changing the link to my blog because of a misunderstanding in the translation . although it would have been cool to have an Italian link , i also had to have something that was correct in translation , but would also be easy to remember . i decided to change the link to "brokegirlrichdreams " . although i am NOT broke , i felt that this was something that would stick in people's minds would show that i have rich dreams that will be fulfilled one day . i also changed the name of my blog to " confessions of the fashionably aware " with a subtitle of [ thoughts of a predicate fashionista ] because i am fashionably aware . i know what's hot , what looks right & how to put an outfit together including hair and makeup . plus i didn't want to just throw away the first name that i had given to my blog , my branding :) so i hope this will be much easier to remember and pronounce . happy reading !

massive attack or epic fail ?

yesterday , wednesday march 31st , nicki minaj released the video for her single " massive attack " featuring sean garrett . although i am a nicki fan and enjoyed the video , i've been getting mixed reviews and different opinions about the video . although the video was very much creative and outlandish as is nicki's style , i felt that her lyrics weren't as strong as they usually are seeing how she is one of the toughest female lyricists out and her originality and delivery is what people connect with . amber rose made a cameo appearance , driving a barbie pink lamborghini in the desert with some extreme eye makeup and a TON of beauty ! some people aren't as thrilled with the video and think of it as a waste , but it's craziness is what is identified with minaj . throughout the video , minaj sports a variety of hairstyles and wild clothing , some of which exposes the butt that has been the topic of many discussions . i enjoyed the production of the video and the song especially the line , " we got tom toms over here bigger than a monster ! hottest summer trends

a few weeks ago on my spring break , i did a little bit of shopping . i bought a few pairs of sandals amongst other things . i noticed that there was a large amount of animal (mainly snake ) prints . if i'm not mistaken i believe the prints were those belonging to python snakes ( much like the image to the left ) . so seeing how there was an abundance of this print within the stores , i'm guessing this print is going to be one of summer's hottest prints . make sure YOU have a little piece of it somewhere maybe a bag , shoe , or belt . you wouldn't want to be left out ! happy shopping :)

i have decided that i'll soon be changing the link to my blog because my translation from english to italian was wrong :( . the actual translation in italian may be too long for a link so i'll soon be reverting back to the english language * giggles * . it was worth a try , but i'll soon think of something fun & reflective of who i am * smiles * .. so stay tuned !

on saturday , march 27th , the sigmas hosted their annual sigma ball . there were awards given to people that had supported them at all their events , scholarships where the recipients gave the money away to causes that they had believed in. the part i was most fascinated with was the attire for the evening . there was an array of dresses : long , short , and many different colors . one shoulder dresses were the move for the night , and only once was there a repeat of a dress ! one girl went home to change what she was wearing * giggles * . the men in the room were dressed to a T . suits , crisp shirts , ties , shoes , and one or two pairs of sneakers , but all was done in good taste ! one thing that also stuck out to me was the amount of tattoos on the females in the room . i'm all about one expressing themselves through body art , but a huge tattoo exposed while wearing an evening gown is tacky . other than that , there was a room filled with beautiful , multicultural people . :)

the rebirth of usher ?

i'm not sure of what to believe with this new usher album titled, " Raymond vs. Raymond ". i was pretty much disappointed with the last album " here i stand " with a total of about 5 good songs ( if it were that many ) . i've heard a few of the songs on the album and i'm pretty much impressed with the few songs that i have heard ; it definitely reminds me of a pre - married usher . i haven't gotten a chance to listen to the entire album , but from a source of mine * giggles * i'm hearing that the album is definitely one to listen to ! so is this the album usher needs to make a come back from a disappointing moment ? you be the judge of that . happy listening :)

trey released a new video for his new song , " neighbors know my name " to power 105 . over the past year or so , i have become a HUGE trey songz fan . i always thought he was cute & i had always listened to his music since his debut , but it wasn't until his second album & his features on hip hop songs that i can say i really became a fan . after seeing him in the " miss independent " video , by none other than ne-yo , sporting an older look [ he had cut off the braids ] & a larger build , i realized that [ for now ] i had found a new r&b love * smiles * . after songz had released his mixtape titled " anticipation " i knew the r&b spectrum had some new heat & it was trey heating things up !

ok , i'm quite sure a lot of people know who amber rose is and i'm sure there are some who may not be familiar with this " bad ass " curvaceous beauty who sports a blonde buzz cut , often bright pink or red lipstick & is hip hop star kanye west's on & off girlfriend . many times , this beauty is spotted & photographed wearing leggings , which has been " in " on the fashion spectrum . although amber fills them out quite nicely , dresses them up for any occasion & looks great in them i wonder what the blonde buzz cut beauty will do when leggings are no longer in style . better wear them & work them while you can amber !

since having a mac book pro , one of my favorite features has become photo booth . photo booth allows you to take as many pics as you want , whenever & wherever YOU want . here's a few of my favorite shots , enjoy !

MAC MAC & MORE MAC !

i ADORE MAC cosmetics . i've used other cosmetics , but i can't think of any other cosmetic line that i've loved as much . it's no problem for me going to a MAC store & spending $ 15 - $ 20 on a lip gloss that looks like it can only be used about 10 times ! * giggles * the MAC name itself has been one of the most spoken names for cosmetic lines & one of the most respected i would say . the brilliant colors of lip glosses , eye shadows , eyeliners , lipsticks & nail polishes are worth every penny spent . after i leave MAC i feel like whatever i have spent was WELL spent because i know that not only would i be satisfied with the product , but i know i will grow to love the product as i have done others . my first MAC product was a lipgloss called " love nectar " & i DEFINITELY fell in love at that point . i had become hooked on lipgloss & no other cosmetic line will do . anytime i need supplies MAC is the first , last & ONLY cosmetic line i will speak ! in my bag , on the go & while shopping , i need MAC , MAC & more MAC !

lover of ALL things fashion & lover of italian ?

over the last year , i've become fascinated with the italian language . thanks to one of my high school friends , whose tattoo reads " amore vole fe " & her understanding of the saying to mean " love cannot exist without trust " , i became intrigued by the italian language . my curiosity led me to actually looking into the saying & i figured that for the tattoo to only have those three little words , her translation had to be off a little . after researching the saying , i found that the actual translation was " love needs faith " . since this is something i TRULY do believe , i took it & ran with it * smiles * . i take the saying very seriously & take it to heart . with that fascination being held so closely to me , i wanted to use the italian language on another part of my blog & will do so in my URL . my love of fashion has led me to the new URL " ModaEsigenzeFede " , which means " fashion needs faith " . i believe in fashion & belief that with faith , it can DEFINITELY go a long way .

bathing suit season .

although we are at the end of february & soon to be the beginning of march , that time of year is quickly approaching . before you know it , it'll be time to put away the coats & snow boots for shorts & flip flops & almost every woman's nightmare : bathing suit season . men have it easy : swim trunks & MAYBE a tank top . the only difficulty they have is deciding on getting a new pair of trunks OR sticking to the ones they've worn in previous years . [ i highly doubt that men become picky when it comes to bathing suits .. maybe color & trunks or speedo , DONE ! ] women on the other hand have A LOT more to think about & choose from before they decide on what they hope is the perfect bathing suit . style : monokini , bikini , tankini , one piece , two piece , color , pattern & this season's trend are the words women use when deciding on a swimsuit , let alone how she will look in one . although a lot of people buy what they like , there are bathing suits that are designed to fit certain body types better than others & compliment most better than others . the different choices of swimsuits provide women with a greater choice of mixing & matching some pieces to put together the " perfect " bathing suit . so look early , look around & INVEST in a great suit . chances are you'll have it for more than one year . & one word of advice : you can NEVER go wrong with a black swimsuit ; happy shopping !

Thoughts of a Predicate Fashionista .

My first posting , wow . Never thought I'd be blogging , but I am ! The other week , I attended an information setting with some friends about online profiles & what it means to " brand yourself ".
